Add the Facebook Like Button to your Joomla Site

Easily Add the Facebook Like button to your Joomla site in less than 5 minutes.

The following simple instructions will allow you to add the ever increasingly important Facebook "Like" button to your Joomla website. Adding the the Facebook "Like" button will allow people to connect to your Facebook page and bring more traffic to your site.

To Add the Facebook Like Button to your Joomla website, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Facebook developer page here: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box
  2. Enter the URL (found in your Facebook page URL) of your Facebook page.
    1. Enter the height (I typically use 200px so that it doesnt take up too much space but depending on your selections you can customize to what you need) that you want for the Like widget.
    2. Select the color scheme that most matches your site.
    3. Select if you want to show faces (These are the profile pics of your Facebook fans)
    4. Select if you want to show your profile stream
    5. Select if you want to show header
    6. Click the Get Code button to generate the Facebook Code. (*Important - I have had the most success using the iFrame output)

    7. Open the Joomla Administrator on your site
    8. Navigate to the Module Manager
    9. Click the New button
    10. Select Custom HTML
    11. Paste the code into the HTML box (make sure the editor is turned off).
    12. Give the module a name
    13. Click the Hide Title radio button
    14. Select the Module Position where you want the widget to appear
    15. Click Save

    That's it you are done. Now go get some "Likes"....
